Every year at this same time, around the end of February, Otten Bros. Garden Center and Landscaping’s hoop house that we call the ‘rose house’, lives up to it’s name. The Otten Bros. crew gathers with a truck load of special potting mix soil, boxes of carefully selected bare root roses from Star Roses and Bailey’s Nursery, and a boatload (it seems) of five gallon pots.

Having been in business since 1953, Otten Bros. Garden Center and Landscaping is steeped in tradition, but this is the one ritual that really seems to kick-off the spring season.

Our buyer has carefully studied and selected the best varieties and the most sought after roses for our customer’s gardens. We plant everything from the hardiest shrub roses to the most fragrant and beautiful garden roses; there’s a rose to enhance every garden and a rose that will be a wonderful addition to the most avid rose gardener’s collection!

The roses arrive bare root and bundled together by variety. Using a sharp pruner, we remove any damaged roots and branches, prune out any crossing branches, selectively prune to open up the center of the plant, and finally give each root and branch a fresh cut at the ends.
